FMCSA sets second hours of service listening session for Sept. 17

The second of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration’s listening sessions on the proposed hours of service changes will be held Tuesday, Sept. 17, at U.S. DOT headquarters in Washington, D.C.

The listening session will be held from 1-3 p.m. and is open to the public. Speakers’ comments will be limited to 10 minutes.

The first listening session on the proposed hours changes was held at the Great American Trucking Show in Dallas. Among talking points from truck drivers at that session were the proposed split sleeper berth provisions, as well as giving drivers the ability to split their 30-minute break into shorter breaks. Several drivers pushed for three 10-minute stops or two 15-minute breaks to satisfy the requirements of the 30-minute break.
